whatispractice_2 Buddhist practice aims to lead all practitioners to be free from suffering.
The root of our suffering is our ego. All of our desires and wandering thoughts originate from our sense of self. Therefore, the goal of Buddhist practice is awakening to the empty nature of ourselves and dwelling in our true self which is in reality no-self (anatta).
When we observe the precepts (sila) and act in an ethical way, our minds begin to settle down. Now the road to spiritual cultivation is paved. For practitioners who practice meditation (samadhi) in a more committed way, the mind becomes more tranquil, focused and empowered. Ultimately, we can reach enlightenment, and our innate wisdom (prajna) will be revealed. We can attain Nirvana, which is the complete extinction of the flame of greed, anger and delusion, by the Threefold Practice: sila, samadhi, prajna.
