Self Retreat
Sometimes we simply feel the need to reflect, relax, and rejuvenate in order to redirect our lives. For the serious practitioner, the practice of self or solitary retreat is very important and has been emphasized in many spiritual traditions. It is a great way to deepen one's practice; by reflecting deeply upon ourselves, we are able to discover our true, authentic self.
The Won Dharma Retreat Center, situated on a beautiful 426-acre property, is surrounded by wooded foothills and a brook. With many spiritual programs freely open to the public, it offers an ideal environment for personal retreat and renewal. All the buildings on the property, which gently slopes toward the west, offer magnificent, breath-taking views of the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains.
All accommodations are modern and eco-friendly, designed to provide a spiritual and contemplative environment. Timeless Zen House and Placeless Zen House, with their inner courtyards, are two residences for guests. They are simple, tranquil, and very conveniently located. These facilities, in such a relaxed setting, are ideal for anyone who would like to withdraw from the hectic world and seek a spiritual path of renewal.
During your stay, you can have quietness and solitude, or you may freely participate in the center's daily meditation programs and the regular on-going weekly programs. You may enjoy our many walking paths that traverse our tranquil and secluded property and soak up the natural beauty of the landscape.
During a self retreat, please observe the Five Precepts and support the meditative and contemplative atmosphere. Won Dharma Center ministers and dharma teachers are available for your meditation practice and spiritual guidance throughout your stay. Self Retreat is available for a couple of days or for as long as a week or a month.
